Wat doen vleermuizen eigenlijk voor ons?
Vleermuizen komen er in het nieuws vaak maar bekaaid vanaf. Ze worden regelmatig omschreven als “die enge dieren die in je haren vliegen, ziektes verspreiden, of een bouwproject stilleggen”. Allemaal uitspraken die eraan voorbijgaan dat vleermuizen ons juist helpen met het bestrijden van plaaginsecten, het bestuiven van bloemen en het verspreiden van zaden. Wist je dat er bijvoorbeeld zonder vleermuizen geen tequila zou bestaan? Vleermuizen zijn dus niet alleen belangrijk voor het natuurlijke systeem waarin ze leven, maar ook voor ons! -
