Bats - Endangered species and consideration regarding Animal Welfare and Nature Conservation Law Strictly protected species All European bat species are endangered and strictly protected species, listed in the EU habitats Directive in annex IV, and for a subset of species also in Annex II. Catching, handling and sampling are strictly regulated.
